Flat Athena Loyal Passenger, Flat Athena, has booked numerous amounts of trips for this upcoming year, and we hope she has a layover in YOUR city! After spending a few weeks attending multiple Friendsgiving's with her sisters down in Clearwater Florida, Flat Athena could not be more thankful for her visit. From eating tons of delicious food, to visiting one of best bakeries in Tarpon Springs, to tanning on the beach, and to spending quality time with her sisters, Flat Athena had one of the best Thanksgivings ever! Although she misses everyone already, she had to continue her visits and jump on a flight from the sunny state to New York. In New York, Flat Athena stayed with her sisters from Bayside, where she attended many holiday gatherings. First, Flat Athena attended the Bayside Christmas Party, where she ate too many Santa cookies. After tons of photo shoots with her sisters, Flat Athena rang in the New Year with Greeks from all over the country at the Sons and Maids of Bayside's first ever New Year's Eve Party! With music blasting and food buffets open, Flat Athena had such a great time dancing the night away into 2019. Although 2018 was a great year for Flat Athena, her MOA sisters, and the AHEPA Order, she is excited to see what 2019 will bring. Her New Years resolution was to book more than one or two flights a month, and visit more chapters around the country throughout the year. So if anyone is interested in hosting Flat Athena, contact her personal travel agent, Grand Governor Kyra Vidas, at moagrandgovernor@gmail.com. Click here to view her schedule and updates. Follow Flat Athena on Instagram @FlatAthena to see all her travels. |

Fundraising and Philanthropy As you all know by now, the Maids of Athena are raising funds in a joint National Project with the Sons of Pericles supporting The Smile of a Child. As both Orders continue to sell raffle tickets to reach our end of year $25,000 goal, we urge each Chapter to hold a fundraiser to support our efforts. Visit our website for all our fundraising resources. |

MOA Horoscope Capricorn December 22 – January 19 Collect your thoughts and take time for yourself. Be content on how you want to spend your time. It is better to go slow and get organized. The background noise should drop, so it will be easier for you to focus. Aquarius January 20 – February 18 Your social life gets a big boost. You do not have to be organized or attend every social event, but you may want to go more than you did before. Pace yourself and enjoy the time while you have it. Meet new people and opportunities. Pisces February 19 – March 20 This month there is something special you have been waiting to happen, and now is the time for it to appear. Misunderstandings may happen, but everything else negative will not be an influence. Make your dream come true. Aries March 20 – April 19 You have energy this month and a goodwill to make everything possible. You have unimagined possibilities and opportunities around you. You must choose wisely what you want to wish for before it actually becomes real. Taurus April 20 – May 20 If love wasn't deep before, it is deeper now. There is someone who cares about you. Just wait for the right moment, and you will be glad it worked out. People may be crazy busy, but they will always be there for you. Life will only get more romantic. Gemini May 21 – June 20 Although things always seem to go good for a Gemini, this time of year, you are in a good mood all the time. Give yourself time to think and understand before jumping on the first opportunity that comes your way. Cancer June 21 – July 22 This month you need to be patient. Although you may care deeply about someone or something, you must wait until the time is right. Be compassionate, especially with yourself. Make sure the ones who care about you are happy this holiday season. Leo July 23 – August 22 Although you may not agree with everything, always be kind and disagree nicely. You have your own ideas and so does everyone else, so let everything be heard, and the right choice will be chosen. Everyone has their own pace, but things will fall in place that need to be. Virgo August 23 –September 22 Take things slowly in life. Make yourself happy. You will be happier and brighter this holiday season. Everything you cared about in the past won't end, but will tend to lessen. You will have new thoughts and ideas, that people will listen too. Libra September 23 – October 22 You relate to many people around you. Your communication becomes valuable. Unresolved relationship issues may be resolved now. Leave all hopeless causes aside. Scorpio October 23 – November 21 Think more and think better. You know true love when you see it. Be patient with yourself and be modest. Fashion 101 January 2019 is here and that means new trends are right around the corner. As we enter the depths of winter it’s often difficult to break from our favourit knits and jumpers and try new trends and, dare I say, colors! Some fun ideas to try out for Winter 2019 are: 1. Metallic colors: Think gold, silver, bronze, maroon or navy blue. A fun new addition to your wardrobe is a metallic piece. Whether it be a clutch, pair of fun booties, or even a shift dress, you’re sure to love a little pop of fun and shine to make the dreary winter days seem brighter. 2. Sweater: There is nothing like wearing a nice toasty, warm sweater this time of year. Perfect for causal wear, but also a very trendy to wear sweater throw overs. Pair that with some black or color pants and leather boots, and you are set for a night out. Additional flare? Opt for the trendy fur vests that come in a variety of colors and prints. 3. Work wear: We’ve entered the age of the “white collar woman” where women are taking over prominent positions in the business world. Hit up your local Zara or Express, load up on some dress pants with fun prints and pair them with a nice blouse for work or a cool bodysuit for evening wear. There’s never been another season where fashion has been tailored to the working woman who also enjoys having fun after work, take advantage of this and build yourself a wardrobe that can easily translate from your professional life to your private life! |

Mental Health Awareness The Maids of Athena have decided to support Mental Health Awareness for the Spring of 2019. For this, the Maids of Athena will make over 300 green ribbons, which will be sold for $2 a ribbon at many events throughout the winter and spring months. Starting at Greeks in LA January 18th-21st, the Maids will have ribbons for sale until the summer begins. We are happy to announce that all proceeds will be donated to the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI), which is a large Mental Health organization that works to help those in need live a better life. Thank you to everyone who participated in supporting Domestic Violence Awareness over the last few months. We raised $1,000, which was donated to Penelope's Place, which is a Domestic Violence shelter. We hope you will continue to support DVA, but also join us in supporting Mental Health Awareness for the next few months by purchasing a ribbon and wearing green! |

Presidents Project Grand President Tatiana is challenging each chapter to fundraise towards a cause near and dear to her heart, the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance, or FARA. Additionally, the MOA Grand Lodge is selling limited edition Pi Alpha beanies – or toques as the Canadians call them – for $15 each. There is only a small number available left, so be sure to order yours before they’re all sold out! |

ADVISOR’S CORNER Winter is upon us, but that only invigorates the Maids of Athena Grand Lodge! While successfully conducting one of the finest Governor’s Conferences, full of fun, sister and brotherhood and disseminating valuable information to the Presidents, they raised awareness for Domestic Violence and GP Tatiana will present Penelope’s Place with $1000 earned during the Purple Ribbon initiative! Why stop there? Their next initiative is to raise money for Mental Health Awareness which will begin early 2019. The philanthropy and caring of the Grand Lodge are ever evident. They are also working with the SOP for the worthy cause: SMILE OF A CHILD and have sold many raffle tickets. I have no doubt they will sell them all! And if that’s not enough philanthropy, GP Tatiana’s President’s project, FARA, which honors her lifetime friend by raising funds for her illness, is also doing well…did you see the darling beanies being sold with proceeds going to FARA? Go to Maidsofathena.org, President’s Project, to see them! Perfect for this time of year! What is the MOA about? Philanthropy, Sisterhood, Beauty and Kindness. Do you know anyone who carries these qualities? If so, why don’t you ask them to join our Order? They, too, will benefit by obtaining leadership experience, new friends from Canada to every corner of the United States. It’s true: if you say, “I’m a MOA”, you are instantly connected and enjoy the benefits of sisterhood. Happy New Year to all! 2019 is looking bright Affectionately in Pi Alpha, Charrie Regopoulos Grand Advisor to the Maids of Athena |
