About Our Scholarships

Currently, the Maids of Athena are fortunate to be able to offer our members four scholarships based on their academic merit, Maids of Athena participation, and financial need.  One application qualifies each eligible Sister for all four scholarships, which are judged by an independent set of judges that are not affiliated with the AHEPA Family.  Details about each scholarship and recent recipients can be found below.

The Maids of Athena National Scholarship

The original and most prestigious of our scholarships.  The winner of the Maids of Athena National Scholarship perpetuates both the goals and ideals of our order in her everyday life and on her journey to academic excellence.

Timothy J. Maniatis Memorial Scholarship

$1000

Named after Past Executive Director of AHEPA, Timothy J. Maniatis, Past Grand President Deanna Socaris and the 2014-2015 Grand Lodge named this scholarship at the 2015 AHEPA Family Supreme Convention in San Francisco, California.  Mr. Maniatis, the father of PGP Stephanie Maniatis, was a lifelong supporter of the Maids of Athena, and worked with many Grand Presidents and their lodges throughout his tenure as Executive Director of AHEPA.  He passed away in 2014 and is remembered for the instrumental role he played in the lives of many members of not just the Maids of Athena and Sons of Pericles, but the AHEPA Family as a whole.

The Archbishop Demetrios Scholarship

$500

This scholarship was named after His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, former Archbishop of America, in honor of his service to the Greek Orthodox Community.  Past Grand President Deanna Socaris and the 2014-2015 Grand Lodge named this scholarship at the 2015 AHEPA Family Supreme Convention in San Francisco, California.

The Becky Angelos Demeris Scholarship

Named after the first Grand President of the Maids of Athena, Becky Angelos Demeris, this scholarship was created by the 2023-2024 Maids of Athena Grand Lodge and the Maids of Athena Past Grand Presidents to honor the memory of our Sister.  It is our hope that this scholarship will be fully funded by donations from those whose lives have been impacted by Sister Becky and her contributions to both the Maids of Athena and the Daughters of Penelope.
